Our tour ends about a 5-10 minute walk from where it begins. Our guides are always happy to call a taxi for you or point you in the right direction.
The duration of our walking food tours is approximately 4 hours, with a 15-minute leeway on either side.
The maximum number of people on our Amsterdam food tours is 12 people.
Food Tours last approximately 4 hours and we will be on our feet for roughly half the time. On the Jordaan Food & Canals Tour, around 1 hour is spent on the boat. The tours are led at a leisurely pace on flat terrain. Wear comfortable shoes to be on the safe side!
All of the tour stops are on the ground floor. However, in a few cases, there are a couple of steps up or down to the entrance, or to the bathroom. The Jordaan Food & Canals Tour also involves climbing on and off a boat from a jetty.
Unfortunately, Amsterdam as a city is not very accessible for wheelchairs, strollers and walkers due to the narrow entrances and steep stairwells. While we endeavor to make our own tours as accessible as possible, we cannot guarantee access to wheelchairs, strollers and walkers. The Jordaan Food & Canals Tour in particular is not accessible for wheelchairs and walkers, due to getting on and off the boat. Please let us know of any accessibility requirements when booking, and we’ll be happy to advise you.
Yes, bathrooms are available at several of the tasting locations.
Is this a trick question? Cameras are most certainly permitted and photos are absolutely encouraged!
In general, we ask that you refrain from shopping to help us keep within our schedule. Food is being prepared fresh for you at each tasting stop. However, there are a few exceptions to this rule that your tour guide will let you know about as you go along. If you would like to return to any of the shops after the tour, they are all close by and would be happy to do business with you!
All of our tours go ahead – rain, hail or shine! In the case of rain, we are able to go inside many of the tasting locations and there are other places where we will be able to stay dry. We kindly ask you to look at the weather forecast and dress appropriately. The Netherlands can be a wet and windy country, and bringing something waterproof is always advisable! Please remember, bookings are only refundable if made 3 weeks in advance of your tour date.
At present, our tours are only led in English. However, our guide speaks Dutch and will be there to translate and assist wherever needed.
Over the course of our tour, you will be enjoying 12 food tastings from 8 foodie locations, which equates to a large lunch or dinner. You will not leave hungry, we promise.
Beer and wine are a part of Dutch culture, and as such will be served at a certain point on the tour. Do feel free to ask for a soft drink alternative if you prefer not to drink alcohol.
In addition to beer and wine, water is served during some tastings. However, you may like to bring a bottle of water with you.
All of our food tours are vegetarian friendly, however it is not possible to serve vegan food at many of the stops. Please notify us of your dietary restrictions upon booking.
When you make your booking, we ask what dietary restrictions you have. We do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions, but these do depend on the individual case. If you have food allergies or intolerances and decide to try tastings in addition to those that have been specially catered for you, please be aware that you do so at your own risk and the company assumes no responsibility.
The boat trip only takes place during our Jordaan Food & Canals Tour. The regular Jordaan Food Tour does NOT include a boat trip.
Our Jordaan Food & Canals Tour involves a 1-hour boat trip through Amsterdam’s world heritage canals during the second half of the tour. During the relaxed and informative boat trip, we’ll try some savory Dutch snacks, including cheese from De Kaaskamer paired with sparkling wine, and bitterballen from famous bakery Holtkamp, served traditionally with a beer from a local brewery. Afterwards, we’ll set sail back to the Jordaan.
The boat trip lasts approximately 1 hour (Jordaan Food & Canals Tour only).
The boat trip starts and ends in the Jordaan, but takes you through some other beautiful areas of the city. You get to see Amsterdam from its best vantage point – the water!
We’ll take a tour of Amsterdam’s world heritage canals, try some savory Dutch snacks, and enjoy a glass of wine and a local beer.
We make every effort to help people on and off the boat. However, it is not wheelchair accessible.
